Your teen wants to attend RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. So who’s behind it all and what’s this RYLA program? Good question.

RYLA is a program of Rotary International, the world’s oldest service club organization. R.I. is made up of almost 32,000 clubs located in more than 165 countries around the world. Its members form a global network of business and professional leaders, men and women, who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world. Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s more than 1.2 million members.

Rotary clubs are organized within more than 500 R.I. districts worldwide, many of which sponsor their own RYLA programs. District 5490, the “Grand Canyon District,” incorporates 42 rotary clubs located from west Phoenix to the Colorado River, Needles California northwest Arizona and the Grand Canyon.

RYLA is an outstanding opportunity for each selected delegate. One former delegate said “This program has changed my life. I’ve met many new people and have gotten new friends. It’s been a great experience. I’ve learned so much and will apply it to my life.”

 The Award

The Award consists of the Sponsored Attendance of selected young people to an intensive leadership seminar. A RYLA seminar is unique.

Through the granting of Rotary Youth Leadership Awards a number of young people from different home backgrounds, having different levels of education, different religions, and involved in different kinds of youth activity, are brought together to work, to learn, and to discuss the problems facing their generation.
